DR. C.T. YEO


A consultant pulmonologist and respiratory specialist at the Gleneagles Medical Centre, Dr Yeo Chor Tzien has been in the practice for over 30 years.

It was in 1989 that Dr Yeo became a certified respiratory specialist. Having returned to Singapore from London in 1990, he served as Consultant Respiratory Physician (Respiratory Medicine) at the Singapore General Hospital before he left for Private Practice in 1993. He played a pivotal role in setting up the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), training Postgraduate Doctors in the field of Respiratory Medicine.

As a trained respiratory physician, he was in-charge of ICU care imparting his knowledge to medical students as well as nurses.

BRONCHOSCOPY

Bronchoscopy is the examination of the airways that allows the doctor to inspect the trachea and bronchi (main airway passages) with a fiberoptic instrument called a bronchoscope. This allows us to examine the patient’s airways for abnormalities such as foreign bodies, bleeding, tumours, or inflammation.

CHEST TAP AND CHEST TUBE DRAINAGE

In the event of fluid or air in the pleural space, a chest tap or a chest tube drainage would be required. In order to guide the placement of the tap or tube with an ultrasound or CT scan.

LUNG FUNCTION TESTING

Lung function testing consists of a series of tests in order to determine the performance of the lungs. Some tests may include the volume testing of the lungs to validate the amount of air the lungs can hold, and also how much effort is exercised to empty the lungs.
